When you visit us, you’ll be asked for your name and some contact details.

You don’t have to give your real name if you don’t want to. If you do, it will be kept private. We won’t tell your GP unless you say we can.

If you have tests and the results aren’t ready while you’re in the clinic, we will need to contact you later. This is why it’s important to give the right phone number or email.

We will also ask how you want to get your results. Most people get them by text or by a phone call.

You can ask to see a male or female doctor or nurse if that makes you feel more comfortable.  If you do, you may need to wait a little longer.

What you will be asked

When you come to the clinic, in your appointment we will ask you about your health and your sexual history.

You may be asked about things like:

  • when you last had sex
  • if you’ve had unprotected sex
  • if you have any STI symptoms

We ask everyone these questions so we can give the right care and support. Please don’t feel like you’re being singled out.
